About Us

      ABOUT US
“Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.” Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan

Town Hall Los Angeles is counted among the Top Ten Leadership Forums in the nation. Our mission is to present issues that affect the daily lives of Angelenos and provide a platform for the discussion of solutions from a nonpartisan viewpoint. We advocate for no side, represent no particular ideology, and stand solidly in support of free speech, civility and the belief that knowledge is a precious commodity.

We do not stand alone in this belief. Since 1937, we have been supported entirely* through dues and grants from individuals and organizations in our region. In a world of sound bites and one-column coverage, Town Hall embodies the value of civic engagement. People come to our events to listen, speak, and engage their own critical thinking skills while learning in the most direct way - through live, person-to-person conversations.

We convene events around topics that have been of concern to Angelenos for decades or those that arose last week. Our archives of nearly 5000 speakers provide a rich context for conversations about today’s economy, infrastructure, education and other topics that are important to us all. Many members attribute much of their professional development and personal growth to their Town Hall experience.

Convening an annual average of 40 events, we have welcomed over 100,000 people this decade. Our speakers, audiences and membership mirror the community. We welcome any and all concerned citizens at our events, to join us as community partners or become members.

Speakers are never paid to be at Town Hall. They come because they know the size and strength of our population and the economic importance of this market. This affords all Angelenos the chance to ask tough questions and evaluate the answers.

It is YOUR Town Hall, and we welcome comments, concerns and speaker suggestions. Throughout this site you can learn more about upcoming events, our American Heritage Student Program for high school and college students and explore our archives. Your comments, suggestions or concerns can be sent to info@townhall-la.org or give us a call at 213.628.8141. We are always happy to talk to you and we hope to see you soon at Town Hall Los Angeles.
